The exciting part of art for me, is capturing a "moment in time" such as storm clouds tumbling over a mountaintop or the sun shining on a breakfast table. The magic of color and the intrique of beautiful shapes and shadows absorb me daily and inspire me to share this joy through my painitngs. My watercolor paintings are usually painted in my studio, but, many are painted plein air, on location. The atmosphere of the area I am in , is evident in my painitings, whether it is the hazy distances of the Western North Carolina mountains or the sharp contrasted brilliance of the Florida coastline. Color has been my chief interest and lately, I have concentrated on the challenge of pushing a limited paliette without limiting the expression of a wide range of hues. My art has been shown in both juried and invitational shows throughout Maryland, North Carolina and Florida. Painitngs have been acquired by private collectors from a range of states. I paints in oils and water colors. Subjects include landscpaes, seascapes, still lifes, florals and portraits. I have studied with such nationally recognized artisits as Richard Leahy, William "Skip" Lawrence, Morgan Samuel Price, Marlene Putnam, Charles Gruppe, Timothy Theis , William Schultz and JoAnn Williams Walker . I am a past chairman of the Academy of Arts in Easton Maryland.
Giclees are available for most paintings.
